Waterloo is still Britain’s busiest station – New Street in top 10

LONDON’S Waterloo station remains Britain’s busiest with annual passenger numbers topping the 99million mark.

Birmingham New Street is officially the UK’s seventh busiest station and the most used outside London. On November 26 it welcomed more than 250,000 passengers as part of the pre-Christmas build up. NETWORK RAIL

The actual figure, as measured by ticket entries and exits, reached 99,148,388 for 2015/16, while Clapham Junction has replaced Charing Cross in the Top 10 most-used stations within London with 32,2282,220 entries and exits.

As might be expected, nine of the Top 10 busiest stations are within London; Birmingham New Street sneaks in with 39,077,018 entries and exits, which places it seventh on the list.

The figures were released by the Office of Rail and Road on December 6.
