FORMER Lambton, Hetton & Joicey Collieries Kitson 0-6-2T No. 29 (4263/1904) managed to complete a short period of post-overhaul running-in at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway at the end of July to ensure it was fit to attend Peak Rail’s Mixed Traffic Gala on August 10-11.
The Lambton Locomotives Trust machine ran out of time to complete the paintwork, but made the journey to Derbyshire on August 7. Here, it joined John Allman’s Beyer, Peacock 0-4-0ST No. 1827, which had journeyed by road from the Foxfield Railway two days earlier.
