Running in plain green with no numbers or transfers it was found to be unable to keep its scheduled timings, and was the reason for late running on the Friday and the Saturday.

No. D2271 worked its first scheduled trip on Sunday to enable anyone who had come especially for a ride behind this loco to do so, but it was then replaced by Class 09 No. D3721 for the rest of the day.
This loco had been undergoing restoration for some while on the West Somerset Railway, but the work was never quite completed before being sold to a loco group for use on the SDR.
It is seen approaching Hood Bridge with a mixed freight from Buckfastleigh to Staverton on July 18. Picture: DAVID HUNT
