A NEW £12million footbridge opened at Lincoln High Street on June 24 to provide access across the railway when the level crossing barriers are down.

The crossing had been the site of many incidents of pedestrians wanting to avoid delay, risking their lives as the barriers were dropping.
Pedestrians had been caught vaulting the barriers while motorists were found to be blocking the crossing.

The new bridge has steps and also lifts for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
A second bridge for Brayford Wharf East is in the early planning stages.
On June 27, unit No. 142022 arrives at Lincoln with the 07.30 from Sheffield.
