LOCAL MP Susan Elan Jones visited the Llangollen Railway on April 7 to formally launch the railway’s Big Push Share Brochure.
The project is aimed at raising share capital towards the completion of the Corwen Central station.
Volunteers have continued to make good progress with the laying of more than 2,000 of the concrete Easi-Blocs that will form the platform 2 wall. These create the overhang to accommodate the oversail blocks and the edging stones.

Meanwhile, the assembly of a further panel of track on the Down side will allow for alignment of the section leading into the east end points for the loop and the completion of the block work.
Further laying of track for the Up side loop is expected to begin shortly and allow the platform 1 wall to be started, after which the space between the two walls will need infilling (around 1,000 tonnes in total).
The newly sunk borehole has proved that sufficient volume of water is available to serve the site’s locomotive watering facility, and the analysis of the water awaits judgment as to its suitability for use in locomotives.
The railway is still looking for donations to its Tenner for a Tonne appeal.
