Roger and Diana visit Beamish for the Great North Steam Fair

STATFOLD Barn Railway’s Kerr, Stuart ‘Wren’ 3128/1918 Roger was a late addition to Beamish’s April 6-9 Great North Steam Fair.

It joined Phil Mason’s Kerr, Stuart ‘Sirdar’ class 0-4-0T Diana.

The theme was the Kerry Tramway – the forestry line in mid-Wales where Diana originally worked – and there were also visiting timber-carrying wagons, including Ffestiniog Railway’s recently completed reconstructed pair of bolsters and two bolsters from Moseley Railway Trust’s collection.

Two further bolsters have arrived at Beamish on loan for a year.

Also visiting for the event was Ffestiniog side-tipping granite wagon No. 848, similar to a wagon in the latter stages of restoration at Beamish. Beamish’s replica Lewin 0-4-0T Samson appeared on a short temporary line built near the standard gauge Waggonway rather than the 2ft-gauge network at the colliery.
