BO’NESS & KINNEIL Railway Class 47 No. 47643 crosses Avon viaduct with the 15.35 Bo’ness-Manuel on April 2.
The Type 4 was used to make sure it was in perfect working order, prior to heading the ‘Royal Scotsman’ (RS) coaches on their warm-up runs on the line.
This is currently the only working loco on the railway with electric train heating (e.t.h.).

The ‘Royal Scotsman’ (RS)was on the B&KR until the morning of April 17 when No. 47643 took the coaches to Manuel from where one of the two RS-liveried Class 66s worked the train to Edinburgh Waverley.
The first four-night ‘Classic’ tour started from there that day and it is considered to be a sure sign spring is here when the RS starts its running season! Picture: IAN LOTHIAN
