STANIER ‘Jubilees’ Nos. 45690 Leander and 45699 Galatea are seeing plenty of use on West Coast Railway Company railtours this summer, with ‘Royal Scot’ No. 46115 Scots Guardsman about to be withdrawn for overhaul.
As well as the Carnforth operator’s regular ‘Scarborough Spa Express’ and ‘Fellsman’ trains, the pair of ‘5XP’ 4-6-0s are working various trains for the Railway Touring Company and other promoters over the coming months.
BR mixed traffic lined black Leander was in action on June 17 (pictured), hauling RTC’s ‘East Yorkshireman’ from Manchester Victoria to Scarborough via the Hope Valley route and Sheffield.

Unfortunately, Galatea was involved in a mishap after working June 1’s ‘Scarborough Spa Express’, suffering a minor derailment while working with its support coach from Holgate sidings to the National Railway Museum for servicing.
