It’s wi-fi and air-con on the Severn Beach branch!

CASCADING Class 166 DMUs to the Severn Beach branch from July 3 has allowed passengers to enjoy luxuries such as free wi-fi, air conditioning and at-seat plugs.

The delivery of Class 387 EMUs for Thames Valley services has allowed GWR to move some ‘Turbo’ units west in the first step to modernise commuter train services around Bristol.

GWR said there will be an increase in seats on the branch of more than 35%, two-car Class 150s being replaced by three-car Class 166 units.

Three sets have started work on the Severn Beach route, and a further two ‘refreshed’ trains are due to operate from Bristol Parkway from October this year.
