THE A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has confirmed an attractive programme of main line tours to mark the 10th anniversary of ‘A1’ No. 60163 Tornado in 2018.
On February 24, the ‘North Briton’ will take Tornado back to the Settle to Carlisle Line, with the ‘A1’ joining the train at Doncaster Belmont Yard for the run to Tyne Yard via Carlisle and the Tyne Valley.

March 24’s ‘Sulis & Sarum Express’ from Tame Bridge Parkway to Bath and Salisbury will be followed on April 14 by Tornado’s first booked 90mph railtour – the ‘Ebor Flyer’.
Two weeks later, the ‘Ynys Mon Express’ runs from Leicester to Holyhead, with optional excursions to Llandudno and the Ffestiniog/Welsh Highland Railway offering the potential for a steam-packed day out.
On May 19, the ‘Canterbury Tale’ heads south from Peterborough via the ECML to Canterbury, returning via Dover and Ashford to London, where a diesel takes over for the trip back to Peterborough.
