‘BRITANNIA’ No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell will see out the last few weeks of its main line ticket with a diverse series of tours for Steam Dreams.
The ‘15 Guinea Special’ locomotive will not be able to take part in the 50th anniversary celebrations in August as its main line certification expires in March, but four ‘Cathedrals Express’ trains in February and March will take it on a farewell tour around the southern half of the country.
February 14 sees the BR ‘7MT’ head a lunchtime ‘White Cliffs’ circuit from London Victoria to Dover, followed in the evening by a short outing to Windsor & Eton Riverside with a ‘Valentine’s Day Special’, which includes a film showing at Eton College.

On February 22, ‘70013 will be on more traditional ‘Brit’ territory with a trip over the Great Eastern Main Line from London Liverpool Street to Norwich.
That will be followed on March 1 by a day trip from Paddington to Cardiff, recalling the period in the 1950s when Cardiff Canton-based ‘Britannias’ hauled Western Region expresses such as ‘The Red Dragon’.
