THE mainstay of passenger services on the Eden Valley Railway (EVR), Cumbria is Class 205 DEMU No. 205009. It carries an attractive, although non-authentic livery.
When No. 205009 arrived at the EVR it was painted matt black on one side to cover graffiti received in the south of England prior to delivery to the EVR. The other side remained in Connex white and yellow.
The DEMU came to the EVR in March 2005 by rail via the link between the railway and the Settle & Carlisle line at Appleby.

It was built in 1957 at Eastleigh as two-car unit No. 1109 (DMBSO No. 60108 and DTC No. 60808), with centre trailer car TSO No. 60658 added later.
The EVR is one of the lesser-known heritage railways, and is based at Warcop station, on part of the old Stockton & Darlington Railway.
The EVR Trust is working towards restoration of the line between Warcop and Appleby-in-Westmorland.
The current running line is about 2.2 miles in length, terminating at Southfields, which does not have public access by road, all facilities being at Warcop.
