A GRESLEY ‘A3’ met its Peppercorn express passenger Pacific successor at an historic and record-breaking Severn Valley Railway (SVR) show.
In the wake of the contentious decision to abandon its traditional autumn gala format, the SVR revelled in a sell-out weekend, together with the major press coverage, that the Pacific Power event brought over five days in September – with ‘A3’ (originally ‘A1’) No. 60103 Flying Scotsman and ‘A1’ No. 60163 Tornado the centrepieces.
All trains were pre-book only, with the railway laying on a slick timetable to make the most efficient use of passing loops and sections on the 16-mile line, as ticket holders had haulage from both Nos. 60103 and 60163.
