DARJEELING Tours is pleased to announce some new tours – as well as some favourites.
We are very hopeful a tour to Bhutan will run in late-November 2019, combining rail and culture, involving plenty of temples and festivals.
A tour to southern India will be happening January 2020. This is a first tour for us: enjoy a night on the backwaters in Kerala, see elephants roaming in a wildlife park, take a trip to the impressive city palace at Mysore, enjoy a steam-hauled train up to Ooty, the Indian Golden Rock Works and temple, as well as the chance to eat fresh fish on the beach at Cochin, with an extension to Goa.

A favourite is our Magic Tourin March 2020, which is a fabulous introduction to India – perfect for couples. Enjoy the steam-hauled journey up to Darjeeling (see below), the railbus up to Shimla, city tours around Delhi and Kolkata, as well seeing the amazing Taj Mahal. There is also a steam-hauled journey up to Ooty.
In June 2019, there is a tour to California, which is a perfect mix of trains and enjoying what California has to offer. A must-do is watching whales, such an exciting experience. San Francisco is exceptional, with its iconic cable cars, heritage trams, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, and so much more.
In August 2020, there will be a trip to Maine, where you will tour all the significant 2ft-gauge lines, a special train on the WW&F at Wiscasset, plus the Model T inspection car, a ride on the main line – the Maine Eastern Railway from Brunswick to Rockland and back –fabulous scenery, plus so much more.
Another favourite, which will run in September 2019 and 2020, is our highly regarded tour to Colorado. Ride the Durango to Silverton and the Cumbres and Toltec, see the best of the BIG trains – Union Pacific on Sherman Hill and BNSF on the Joint Line – and visit the Union Pacific Steam Centre at Cheyenne to see its LARGE steam locomotive collection. Also, there are plenty of attractions for non-railway enthusiasts.
