ONE person was killed and around 100 others injured when a push-pull train failed to stop and went over the bufferstops at the Hoboken terminus in the USA on September 29.

The train is operated by New Jersey Transit (NJT), and travels across the Hudson river from New York City.
A 34-year old woman was killed on the station concourse, which was covered in debris when part of the overall roof was wrecked in the accident.
Most trains at Hoboken are push-pull trains with the locomotive at the rear (or country end) of the train.
This was NJT’s first fatal accident in 20 years of operation.
