OCTOBER 16 saw the start of the new Greater Anglia franchise, which for the next nine years will be operated by Abellio.
Rail Minister Paul Maynard has called the plans “exciting and ambitious”.
A new subsidiary company – Greater Anglia (GA) – has been created for the new franchise, with the Abellio part of the previous logo and branding having been dropped.

Greater Anglia has promised a package of improvements worth £2billion for the East Anglia region.
Current trains will be replaced over the next four years, which accounts for a large proportion of the improvement costs, with 1,043 air-conditioned carriages replacing the 933 vehicles.
