£2.5m scheme launched to revive Bridgnorth station

THE Severn Valley Railway (SVR) is appealing for £2.5million to finance the major redevelopment of Bridgnorth station.

A new station building, turntable and car park form the three key elements of the £5m scheme, which launched on November 1. It is being backed by the hoped-for success of a fresh £2.5m share offer, with each share valued at £1.

The Bridgnorth Development Team has already received planning permission from Shropshire County Council for the site modifications, providing the share offer with a welcome boost.

The SVR describes it as the “most ambitious, far-reaching development and restoration project” in its 51-year history.

Bridgnorth Project Team member David Postle has spoken of his enthusiasm for the project: “All along we’ve been mindful of the very special history and heritage of the site.
