The stations at Darlaston and Willenhall closed in 1965 but could rejoin the national network by 2022 as part of a scheme to reintroduce local trains between Wolverhampton and Walsall. Passenger trains ran between 1998 and 2008 on this route, but there is currently no direct link across this part of the ‘Black Country’.
