Bewdley Prairie gains its tanks

by

THE restoration of the 4150 Fund’s Large Prairie No. 4150 at Bewdley on the Severn Valley Railway took a significant step forward on March 29 when the 2-6-2T’s boiler was removed ready to dispatch to Bridgnorth for overhaul.

Volunteers used the opportunity of having a crane on site to trial-fit the loco’s new side tanks and coal bunker prior to the boiler lift, after which the tanks were removed again to enable the lifting of the boiler.

The boiler has been placed on a well wagon for eventual transportation to Bridgnorth, and the tanks and cab rood re-fitted. Picture: BOB SWEET
