TRANSPORT for London has released a new version of its Tube map aimed at helping passengers who suffer from claustrophobia or anxiety.
The map shows which sections of the network are above ground and which are in tunnels, thus helping journey planning for those wishing to avoid going underground.
There are around 270 stations on the Tube network, more than half of which are above ground. Only the Victoria and Waterloo & City lines are wholly underground.

Tunnel sections on the standard Harry Beck-designed map – including Underground, Overground, DLR and TfL Rail – have been given a grey overlay.
Nicky Lidbetter, chief executive of Anxiety UK, said: “I sincerely hope the map will encourage those with claustrophobia and/or suffer from panic attacks who have previously avoided this form of public transport out of fear, to reconsider their use of the Tube”.
