‘Standard 5’ and Bulleid Pacific take West Somerset to Bath and beyond…

BLUEBELL Railway-based Riddles ‘5MT’ 4-6-0 No. 73082 Camelot and Jeremy Hosking’s Bulleid ‘West Country’ No. 34052 Lord Dowding (a.k.a No. 34046 Braunton) will be helping the West Somerset Railway rekindle memories of the iconic Somerset & Dorset (S&D) route this autumn.

The visiting pair will star at the WSR’s Bath & Beyond gala on October 5-8, which is intended to play to the strengths of the line’s available locomotives of both S&D and Great Western/BR(W) origins.

They will be joined by S&D ‘7F’ 2-8-0s Nos. 53808 and 53809, ‘4F’ No. 44422 and ‘Modified Hall’ No. 6960 Raveningham Hall.

The gala will also mark one of the final appearances on the line by on-hire ‘Manor’ No. 7820 Dinmore Manor before it returns to the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway.
