RICHMOND Light Railway’s August 19 Open Day featured five locomotives in steam.
Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway’s Bagnall 0-4-0ST Armistice became the first steam loco to visit this private line. It joined residents Couillet 0-4-0T Chuquitanta, O&K 0-4-0WT Susan, and Arn Jung 0-4-0WT Jenny.
The fifth was 0-4-0VBT Leary, constructed a few years ago at Boston Lodge by Ffestiniog Railway volunteers and now on loan to Richmond LR.

Leary made an afternoon solo circuit of the line after the day’s main operations, then hauled passengers (riding in a Penrhyn Quarrymen’s coach) for the first time.
Significant infrastructure enhancements were unveiled.
A new ‘S’-shaped line now links both sides of the main circuit. This primarily enables a train departing the main station clockwise to cross to the far side and continue round the curve direct onto the branch line to New Barn Halt.
