PEPPERCORN ‘A2’ Pacific No. 60532 Blue Peter has cleared one of the major hurdles on its road to a return to steam with the casting of a new middle cylinder.
Blue Peter last ran in 2002 when still owned by the Drury family and under the custodianship of the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group.
After more than a decade on public display, the tired ‘A2’ was acquired by Jeremy Hosking’s Royal Scot Locomotive & General Trust in 2014, and is currently under overhaul at LNWR Heritage in Crewe.

At the time of its sale it was known Blue Peter would require extensive boiler repairs and a new middle cylinder, and the overhaul team at Crewe has worked closely with the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust (A1SLT) to produce the new cylinder.
