COMMUTERS using London Bridge station were able to make use of the first two-thirds of the all-new concourse from August 29 after the newly built platforms 7 to 15 came into use together with the associated new retail units and station exits.
The new concourse, when it opens in 2018, will be the largest in the UK, having a greater area than a football pitch.
An array of lifts, stairs and escalators will make it fully accessible for everyone, and passengers heading for the Underground will have a number of route options open to them. These include a peak-time-only route through the new concourse, the current concourse under the Shard, and the new entrances and exits on to St Thomas Street.
